I'm aware it's the "rainy season" however what can I expect when I go next month, Mid-September? Has anyone vacation here around that time? Did it rain the entire time? Is the sky black the entire time? Is the water too ruff to swim in? Should I go somewhere else, perhaps? lol

It generally rains for a hour or two every third day. Then the sun comes out.
Occasionally, but not often, it will rain for 3 days, then the sun comes out.
Welcome to the tropics during rainy season.
I have lived in Playa for over 15 years. first came here as a tourist over 28 years ago. No one can predict the weather, but I can offer some history. Although October sees more rain days, September has more rain. It usually rains in the morning and then again at dusk. Seldom do you see a full day of rain or even multiple days of rain. We're experiencing a dry rainy season now. Averages are well below normal. Playa saw it first rain fall this afternoon in two weeks that lasted less then two hours, we just ducked into a bar had a cold one, when it was over moved on. So you may see rain but nothing that will ruin your vacation. Stop worrying about the weather and start dreaming of the fun you're about to have. Got another question just ask or contact me directly.
