I wish i knew the answer to your question, but from what i have read everyone is different. One person could only have a softened cervix and no dilation and not go into labor for a couple wks, but another could have the same and have her baby the next day. It really depends on your body.

I know that seeing what other women have gone through or are experiencing helps keep your mind and thoughts busy, but please if you have any major or serious questions call your doctor. I am the same way about wanting to see what others have gone through etc.

I have read many things about ways to make labor come faster, from walking to having sex to Cinnamon stick tea and bumpy roads. Reality is that when your baby is ready to come he/she will come. Yes sperm is known to soften the cervix, but if your body is not ready the softening will not progress into dilation and labor. Yes walking can and will likely help the baby get into position more quickly, but again if they are not ready labor will not start.

Trust me i have hoped and prayed for labor to begin soon. We are at 37 wks and 5 days today if i don't go into labor on my own by wk 41 (oct 11th) they are doing a c-section. I so don't want to go through all that pain, discomfort and recovery time again. I had to with my now 12 yr old son, he was 2 wks late after trying to induce me twice with no luck and they took him via c-section.

i would say that labor is near just cause ur so close to the end. increased discharge could just be a normal thing since u r full term (my doctor told me this yesterday). and the backaches could be the beginning of labor or it could be just how baby's laying. i get ab pains to but all it does is make me use the bathroom, nothing else. no contractions. it's driving me nuts though because i get them more than anything. im almost 38 weeks and i have been back in forth for preterm labor during this pregnancy so i was checking every little symptom hoping labor was near. now that im full term, it seems like nothing is happening and i guess there is no real way to tell when it is going to happen. i would just say to u to watch and make sure the cramping and even the pain in ur back isn't timeable - 5 to 10 minutes apart because for some people cramping can start in the back and work it's way to the front and ab cramping can also be a sign of labor. if you are experiencing anything 5 to 10 minutes apart, call ur doctor. they will probably have u come in. best wishes to u. ur almost there.

Through my experiences, When I got more discharge and my lower back started to ache, I was about 1 week till delivery.

They say that it will speed up the process, but believe me, I walked about 20 miles and nothing happened. I still went to 41 weeks. While you are walking , you should drink lots of water though, b/c it takes away from amniotic fluid.

I was working 40+ hours a week. I was always feeling like crap. I was told that sex would put me into labor and sure enough I woke up at 1:30am with mild contractions. So I just got up and took a shower, ate, and went to the hospital. No big deal.

You sound like your due any day now. Just keep active. And have alot of sex.

The only way to tell for sure that you are close is having your cervix checked.. next Drs. appt ask if you are dialated.

After having 4 kids, it kinda sounds like your baby is just getting in position.

I misplaced my mucous plug approximately every week earlier than I went into exertions. But then the morning I went into exertions, I used to be having like fuel cramps in my belly & used the restroom & while I wiped I noticed pinkish stuff on the bathroom paper & slightly blood. I went correct to the clinic & used to be three-four cm dilated & had my daughter that night time. So it might imply quickly! Good good fortune. :)
