Today I had my oil changed at Black's Tires and on the way home from work later that night we smelled a strange odor. We got back into the car and when we cranked it up and hit the gas we heard a rattling sound. The oil light then came on and when we got out and checked the oil there was hardly any in there. We believe the motor/valves may have been damaged.
Can someone tell me what caused this and what I can do to fix it? Will Black's Tire have to take care of it due to their mistake?

sounds like they crossthreaded the oil filter or failed to tighten it properly, or even failed to put enough oil in, they will deny everything you need an independent engineers report as your engine may have been ruined the AAA can do it

Oil Change Causes Car Problems?

You need to check to the oil filter and oil drain plug to make sure they are tight. If not, they forgot to tighten one of them.
If that happened and you lost oil, it could have caused a lot of damage. Look for spilt oil around the back and bottom of the engine.
Is it leaking?
They could have even forgot to put oil back into the motor. They will definitely have to be responsible.
Geez man. Good luck.
# 1The Oil drain plug was not installed correctly;
# 2 They failed to put Oil in the Engine:
# 3 They may have forgotten to install the Engine Oil Filter;
I believe You have a case for an Engine; at their expense:
The Rod Bearings and Main Bearings are no good now:
U have 2 prove that they >put a bad filter on it-left drain plug loose-didn't put required amt.of oil in-r left the filter loose & were negligent in not checking after start-up.If it is a bad filter the manufacturer will b liable.U need 2 check the 1st place u parked ur car after service,WITH a camera handy.Take duplicate photos of each place u parked since service.Do this ASAP.
Absolutely not. If anything, the more frequently the oil is changed, the better and longer your engine will last. Where you draw the line is if you are changing it so much where it's only a waste of money, needlessly spent.
Demand a new engine from them immediately, and tell them everyone within 500 miles will remember the name of Black's Tires. ..and that you will not rest until their business is closed, using every resource at your disposal, internet and lawyers included.
