I am renting a home and the court served me papers as the renter on 11/8 said i had 20 days to respond, I am only the renter why would I be served? the landlord has not mentioned this to me at all. they have not been served, do they have to be served? and what if they are not?

Evidently the homeowner/mortgage holder used to live at your address, and never notified anyone about his move. If you mail your rent check - send the papers or if landlord stops by for rent - give papers to him. Now, before you get too comfy, start looking for a replacement home.
