I want to start reading batman comics. I know there a lot but I just want to know would I have to read every single one or could I read some without it ruining the story?
Like are all the comic story's in chronological order or can I select some to read?
Thanks for the help!

Reading every single issue would take you forever, and I'm not sure it would even be possible as some of the older issues haven't been reprinted.
Batman is really easy to just jump onto because the characters are for the most part really well known. The main Batman books right now are Detective Comics, Batman, and Batman and Robin. Of the 3, Detective Comics is easily the best at the moment. Scott Snyder is a fantastic writer and Jock's art is freaking gorgeous. Right now there are actually two Batmen. There's Bruce of course, and Dick Grayson. Back in 2008 Bruce was thought to be dead, and Dick, the first Robin, had to come back to Gotham and take on the cowl. Current Robin is Bruce's son Damian.
So if you want to start now, i say go with Detective. Track back a few issues of Snyder's run. But since this run is just about over, I suggest you wait until September. In September DC will be starting all the Batman books over at #1 and Snyder will be leaving Detective to go to Batman. Dick will step down and Bruce will become the primary Batman again.
In the meantime, there are some classic Batman stories that are must reads for any comic fan:
Batman Year One
The Dark Knight Returns
The Long Halloween
Hush
The Man Who Laughs
The Killing Joke
