I started up my computer the other day and all i got was a black blank screen. Everything else still lights up and works fine and in the beginning of start up you can vaguely see a black silhouette of the computers specs and details such as the Dell logo and what kind of processor it has but then it just goes completely black. I can still blindly log in and hear all of the start up greetings but that's as far as i can get not seeing anything.
Does anyone know what the problem might be and how i might be able to fix it?

what kind of computer are you talking about?
laptop or desktop?
sounds like you're talking about a laptop (with a vaguely visible writing on the screen). if i'm right and it's a laptop screen, then most likely the backlight is gone.
sounds like the backlight is gone on your monitor. If it is a desktop the easiest test is to
- turn the computer off.
- press the menu button on your monitor
- if you cannot see the monitor menu options = your monitor is shot
You might want to try a new video card.
