today I went and bought a little above ground pool. It's 10' x 30" pool. I haven't set it up or anything yet. And I already know that I do not have a gfci outlet anywhere in my home (its an old home). But I did some research and someone online said that it's possible to buy a gfci extension cord, and plug it into a regular outlet, and then plug my filter pump into the gfci part of the extension cord and it would work. I was wondering if that's safe for me to do, and if it would even work that way. I just don't wanna get into the pool and die or something.

It should work although there's a chance that it may not meet local codes with respect to grounding. If you want to play it safe, unplug the pump while you're in the pool and run it after.
