I've been needing a new camera for a while now (I', an art major,so I need it mostly for cataloguing my work), but my budget has been pretty tight... My sis got a new camera for Christmas from her bf and offered to sell me her old camera (which is not even a year old) for $80. It is 7 mega-pixels (the more pixels the better for taking pictures of paintings and drawings), takes great videos, and is in all-around good condition.
Is this a fair price? Or should I just buy a new camera? If so, where do you suggest I go to get a good camera at an affordable price?
Recommendations on specific models are greatly appreciated.
Update:A lot of the pictures I take of my art are used for slides, etc., so the quality of the image must be really good. I can't remember the brand the camera is, but I think it is a Sony. As for warranties... I'm not incredibly sure where I stand on that issue... I'd have to look into it.

what brand is the old camera? Walmart has a lot of cameras for a good price. and yes 8mp is good but really you only need more mp if you plan on enlarging your photos. if you are doing 4x6's 6 or 7 would be really good.. i have a 7 and blew up a picture to a 20x30 and it came out really good..
$80 is a fair price for a year-old Canon. It would not be a fair price for a year old GE or Samsung though.
You can get brand-new cameras, like the Nikon L14, with image stabilization for under $100:

Is a warranty worth $20 to you?
