To add to what the first guy said: the area where bags are kept is unpressurized. Your cat's ears will be popping, breathing won't be anywhere near as easy, and he'll have one hell of a cold, unpleasant trip. But he will make it. Maybe. The stress of the whole thing might do the kitty in.
