I'm trying to learn how to make gifs with GIMP. I've downloaded the videos I want to use, and I know I need to be able to extract the files and do a whole bunch of other stuff to be able to bring up the video in GIMP and gif it. I downloaded 7-zip, a program that lets me extract files, and I should be able to right click on the video I want to extract, click "7-zip", and then click "extract", but the extract option doesn't show up. It only says "compress and send in an email" and "add to archive" or something like that.
Help, please?

7-zip is for extracting compressed archive files, not for extracting frames from a video.
To import a video as frames in GIMP to convert them into a GIF you need GAP (GIMP Animation Plugin). It's free here: http://photocomix-resources.deviantart.com/art/GAP...
Tutorials on how to use GAP are on the GIMP website http://www.gimp.org/tutorials/Using_GAP/
There are tutorials on Youtube that will show you how to import a video using GAP, and convert to GIF.
I don't think 7zip can capture frames from a video.
