How do I obtain a particular local phone number?
When I call the number, the recording says it's been disconnected or no longer in service. At the end of the recording, there's a code: SPR7P6. Does anyone know what means?
The phone number apparently belongs to Choice One Communications which is Earthlink. They say they don't own the number. This has been terribly frustrating.
Can anyone help?
Update:I don't want information regarding that phone number, I want that phone number for my business because it spells something in particular.

Its disconnected, so they did not choose to leave a new number. The code you are talking about is probably some identifier that is internal to the phone company.
If you are looking for a particulat business phone number, most can be found on the internet by searching for it.
EarthLink, or One Communications division may have the number reserved for future needs. If the name used is Choice One Communications, it may remain from the before mergers began, but hasn't been released yet for anyone else.
You would need to get a court order, to get any further information.
