I think it depends. If porn interfers with your relationships or your job then it's harmful. If you enjoy looking at it when you are alone with nothing to do then I think it could be harmless, unless you are looking at really freaky stuff then it could change what you find sexually exciting and end up being harmful...
I think it's very harmful, especially to the young and inexperienced. They get the subliminal as well as overt message that women are objects to be used. That relationships are about sex and not much else. That being willing to have sex on demand is the main thing a guy should be looking for. That you are subnormal if you have a normal build.
If you have no actual experience with loving someone, caring about them, spending quality time with them outside the bedroom, you get the message from porn that none of these things really matter. And that women's minds and opinions don't matter. All these things are extremely harmful to mindsets and relationships.
Porn is less harmful for mature adults who can easily distinguish between fantasy and real-life relationships. But it still is harmful, as it promotes prostitution. Having sex for money is what prostitution is, and that's exactly what these "actors" (male and female) are engaged in. Many porn films are produced by criminals who use the profits to finance very nasty activities. So watching porn secretly supports a segment of the economy which most decent people would not be willing to openly support.
It can be harmful to the guy. Most guys don't know how to control not looking at it. They get obsessed and risk loosing their real life girl for photos and vids on a computer or tv screen.
Some guys are stupid enough to try and into their girl to it as a way of "spicing" up the sex lives. It just kills it.
I just took my Human Sexuality exam today and we did it on Sexual Explicit Material. Whether it is helpful or harmful, pretty much depends on who is viewing it. What might be right for me, might be wrong for you. So there is no definite answer.
well to me it was helpful I think.. I had some ideas of what sex would be like... and when I finally got to live my own expirence I knew what to do.. well kind of... ...
it's bad when you get addicted to it and you cant live without porn.. I think it's all about control too
