Basically I was installing a windows 8 update. It got stuck on 13%. After that I restarted it and it is sitting on a black screen with a blinking cursor.
I can't get into my system restore. I can get into bios but don't know enough to mess with it. F11 doesn't work. Now I'm just stuck. There is no disc involved as the hard drive has the windows partition. At this point I'm just staring at a blank screen.
Any help is awesome. I'm not going to take it to some place to get ripped off repairing it. Thanks for your help.

You may have to restore the laptop to factory settings. What it will do is basically reset your laptop as if it was new but it will restore the Windows 7 that came with that machine if ever. It will work if you still have the system reserve partitions intact.

Since F11 won't work, you might have to boot a Linux USB to salvage your files and reinstall Windows. It might be because your hardware is a bit incompatible with Windows 8.
I will not suggest Windows 8 as a default or only operating system at this point cause I and some others have gone through issues. I did a dual boot with my Windows 7 and Windows Release Preview on my netbook. It still has bugs.
