The biggest flaw with a lot of the BMI and other body fat calculators is that they do not take in lean muscle mass. They assume that everyone is a twig with no muscles. That is why using the BMI that all football players are considered obese or close to it. Personally, I think most of this is bs and even though I am heavier than I want, it would be hard for me to get into my "ideal" body weight since I am large boned with muscle mass hidden under my stomach fat.
BMI only takes into account height and weight, it ignores other factors such as frame size, bone density and muscle mass. You could be 220lb with 16% body fat or you could be 220lb with 26% body fat. No way can a BMI calculator tell the difference between body fat and lean mass. You'd be best to get your body fat percentage tested to see how much body fat you are carrying.
One of professors had a saying. Why do people use averages when average almost never happens in real life?
Those sites use averages to tell you how much you should weigh. It's the same problem. No one is average.
Here is my advice. Blow it off and go by how you look and feel, along with things like blood pressure, resting heart rate, etc, which are all indicators of physical fitness.
Yeah the trouble with the bmi index is that it only calculates weight and height, so that can be 221 pounds of either fatty tissue or muscle ; not the same. so don't worry!x
Those results aren't very conculsive, I wouldn't worry about them. You sound like a really tall and strong person, and that means muscle. Muscle weighs more than fat. When I was a teen, I was 5'4", and weighed about 150... and I was one of the skinniest persons you ever saw. I carried alot in my chest and had alot of muscle.
well muscle weighs a lot more than fat so you be better getin fat measure scales cause that measures what is fat and what is muscle. instead of cutin out all the crappy foods in your life replace them with healthy stuff limit what you eat and fight cravings until they don't bother you (this happens usually after 2-3 weeks)
well are you more muscle or fat?
in other words do you have abs? lol
