Hi, a few weeks ago a friend of mine, lets call him X, told a boy (whom I have no feelings for whatsoever) that I was crushing on him. Now this boy won't stop bothering me and is telling everyone that I like him. I know it's juvenile but I'm very awkward and socially inept so this kind of thing scares me. I asked X to explain to him the truth but instead hes having the guy I like (he doesnt know I like him) to talk to the boy bothering me. X told my crush about the situation, and somehow my crush offered to speak to the guy bothering me. I don't want my crush to talk to him because he doesn't really have anything to do with this and I feel like it could end really badly. The boy bothering me won't believe me if I tell him the truth because he thinks Im shy. Like I said, Im really awkward so I don't know if I should let my crush stand up for me or if I should talk to the guy myself.

You need to stand up for yourself. Make X come with you to offer an apology of his own, but the guy needs to hear directly from you that he needs to stop bothering you, and if he doesn't, you're going to have to get someone in authority involved. And while you're at it, make sure X knows that embarrassing your friend and potentially hurting other people by spreading rumors and then asking someone else to clean up the mess isn't the sort of thing friends do.
