Why did Olivia go to a different department on Law & Order SVU? ?
I'm new to SVU, I've been watching old episodes on USA, I just saw the eppy where a young boy runs an illegal website that shows children. Stabler went to see Olivia to ask for computer help to track down the pedophiles. I never saw the show where she left and why, but she came back to SVU at the end of that show.

OK, so that was about almost three years ago(?), so that meant that Olivia had to temporarily transfer to another department w/in the NYPD's Major Case Squad so that Elliot(her partner) could handle it much better(w/ the help of fellow Detectives Fin Tutuola and John Munch) since he's a divorcee w/ two teen daughters he's trying to protect from sick people like the one they're pursuing...and it also helps having a "in-house" compu-geek!
In reality, Mariska Hargitay(Olivia) had to go on maternity leave to give birth to her-now 17-month-old son August(her first child, and according to her now-deceased dad, bodybuilder Mickey Hargitay, Mariska was the last of his kids[by late actress Jayne Mansfield] to give him a grandchild...)...
