I'm planning a cruise with my friends and was wondering about how they bill your drinks and other separate items you buy on board. I've been on cruises with my family before and everyday they give you a bill with all your purchases - its just one bill tied to one credit card and its usually the credit card we reserved the room with. However my question is since I will be with my friends can we each get separate bills under different credit cards. Such as each persons sail and sign card go directly to their credit card or is it tied to the room number and we can only get one big bill?
I understand I can call and find out its just they keep putting me on hold. I would only like an answer from someone who has done this type of thing before or knows for sure that its possible.
Thank you

Yes each of you can have your own bill and pay separately. Wife and I do that every cruise so when she buys me a drink she is paying. You will have to tell them when you arrive at the port, if you do not do it online or with your travel agent, that you want separate billings. At the end of the cruise you will each get your own bill charged to a credit card, or you can arrange to pay cash.
Carnival has a "ship & sail" card. When you check in with the ticket agent, you arrange then to either pay by credit card, or make a cash deposit. No cash is used on the ship, except for in the casino, you just supply your card, and the charge is but on your account. You order drinks, you give the card to the waiter. You go into a shop you supply your card to the cashier. Usually the cash day all sales are cash only. When you are in port they have to charge you any local sales taxes, and can't sell liquor.

Each person has their sea-pass card and if none of you are underage you can charge your drinks just to your card, just be careful,I have been on a ship and when I went to pay my bill the guy behind me had been drinking the whole time and buying drinks for others and his bar bill (after a thirteen day cruise) was almost ten thousand dollars, they actually gave him a free seven day cruises after he paid his bill and he had been drinking already that day,he sobered up really quick!!!He will be paying for that trip for a very long time!!!!!!!
Each of you should have your own "card" with which to buy things. Each of you that are traveling together needs to have a separate account, even if only one person charged the room for all of you. That's usually not a problem.
The best way to ensure that your billing is separate is to wait until you check in and let the check in agent know you want each of your cruise cards to bill to a separate account. They will set it all up and you will each have a separate bill. We have done this with my mother-in-law and our elder kids so that they are billed for their charges while we are billed separately for ourselves and our younger kids.
And remember to check your bill regularly so you know what you have spent, it adds up fast and occasionally other charges that are not yours can show up on your bill.
