Eagles vs. Metallica?
Very different bands, but they are both great and a friend and I are disputing who's better. I say The Eagles, but Metallica are geniuses of hard rock. Both are great in their own ways.

Apples and oranges dude. There's just no way you can compare them at all. But if I had to pick, I'd weasel out of it by saying that I think the Eagles have better songs objectively, but I prefer to listen to Metallica.
I like both bands a lot, but like dude up top said apples and oranges. Most of the younger generation is gonna say the Mighty Met, whilst the older cats will say the Eagles. But let's look at this in a way in which all artists are eventually compared......album sales. The Met is a solid band without a doubt, just listen to Master and And Justice and you will see that they are INSTRUMENTALLY superior. The Eagles are a stellar SONGWRITING group....tell me you don't like Hotel California?? But back to sales....The Met has sold somewhere in the range of 99 million, and you're thinking WOW! That's freaking awesome! Until you see that the Eagles have sold almost TWO AND A HALF times that many at around 230 million total worldwide. Both those totals are worldwide. The Eagles Greatest Hits album is one of THE BEST selling albums OF ALL TIME checking in at a cool 30 MILLION! Only to be outdone by the Michael Jacksons Thriller album. All 3 acts being American is something to be proud of.
I personally prefer Metallica but they are very different bands.
