I have a scanner (AGFA snapscan e20) and when i plug it in windows describes it as an "unknown device". I have the driver installed (scanwise) and I have VueScan installed also. Neither of them detects my scanner. I run windows vista and the AC adapter for the scanner isn't the one they gave in the box (I lost the original AC adapter). I tried to update the driver in "device manager" and it said it had the best driver installed already for the unknown device. I can't use my scanner because nothing recognizes it! HELP!
Update:My scanner is USB and VueScan is a driver that is compatible with Vista and my scanner. I heard that the problem was the AC adapter, if that is the problem, how can i solve it?

Probably the driver was not made to work in Vista. I suggest you try to find the manufacturer's website and look for the latest driver. Or if there is an auto update feature in the software, use that to check for the latest version.
Are you plugging your scanner in usb? and even if not, try getting the scanner software for windows vista, because basicly most things run pnp (plug n play), btw AGFA snapscan e20 is for linux
