Has anyone been on holiday to Canos de la Meca in Andalucia, Spain?
I was wondering where to stay in Andalucia and this place was described as a lovely place to stay. Does anyone live there or has visited, is it a good place to go on holiday?
I've passed through there a few times. It's a lovely place, very removed from the tourist 'zones'. For a quiet, relaxing holiday it would be good.
However a car would be necessary....the public transport there is almost non existent. There's some nice places nearby well worth a visit...Cabo de Trafalgar, Zahara de Los Atunes (the old town though...there is a sprawl of Apt buildings that begins about a mile onwards....an eyesore and a ghost town off season), Bolonia (my favourite) and also Vejer de la Frontera is well worth a visit.
Los Canos de Meca used to be a bit of a hippie hideaway...there's still that very relaxed atmosphere there.

It is surprisingly unspoilt.
Look at the pictures on the web (e.g. Google Earth), under Los Caños de Meca. It is to the West of the town of Barbate.
